What’s Inside an EV Battery?
A modern electric vehicle battery weighs around 500 kg—roughly the size of a suitcase—and is made up of valuable and energy-intensive materials. Each battery contains approximately 12 kg of lithium, 30 kg of nickel, 20 kg of manganese, 15 kg of cobalt, 100 kg of copper, and 200 kg of aluminum, along with steel, plastic, and 6,831 lithium-ion cells.
